Upcoming shows for 2009
•   Skalloween IV – Aberdeen’s original & best Skalloween
:: aka-SKA plus Famous Ape
:: Moshulu, Sat 31st October :: £5/6

•   Drummonds, Aberdeen :: Sat 12 Sept

Been a quiet 2009 so far. Toby, our friend and drummer, left the band (reluctantly) for personal reasons. We’ve recruited Craig M as a replacement, and our first gig with him will be Cafe Drummonds on Sat 12 September.

Toby will come and play a farewell show with us for Skalloween IV – this is at MOSHULU on Saturday, October 31st, with support from Famous Ape and the aka-SKA DJs. Ticket prices to be confirmed, but will be around £5 or £6.

SKALLOWEEN IV is at Moshulu on 31st October
Note that another venue is promoting their ‘annual Halloween ska’ event as skalloween – but it’s not aka-SKAlloween!! That venue, where we did SKALLOWEEN in 2008, did ask us if we would play support to their main act. We declined, as we had already agreed to our own SKALLOWEEN IV at Moshulu. So it’s a bit cheeky of the other venue to market a skalloween, knowing that aka-SKA’s Skalloween is the same night... but hey, it’s your choice, you pays yer money... we’ll speak to Moshulu to get advance tickets available soon, and we’ll see you at Moshulu for a ghoulish good night!

THE SPECIALS

We are proud to announce that 2009 will see the live return of Coventry's finest, The Specials.

One of the most important bands in the history of popular music and recognised as one of the greatest live bands the world has ever seen have been the subject of continuous rumours and demands for their reformation since their split in 1981.

It would be impossible to overstate the importance of The Specials to the UK music scene. Despite a brief career, the Coventry band lit up the late 70's like a comet, their melding of punk and ska creating the 2-tone sound that is still today held up as an influence by bands across the world. Now, thirty years since the release of their debut single, 'Gangsters', The Specials will take to the road for a UK tour starting in April.
